Do you want to protect your kids from potentially life-threatening vaccination-preventable diseases like COVID-19? If so, then vaccination is the way to do it. It's easy for parents to find information about vaccination on the internet and feel like they are informed, but in reality there are many misconceptions out there that can lead them astray. The truth is that vaccine efficacy has been proven over and over again to be the safest and most effective way of preventing illness.

You're probably aware that vaccination is a way to protect your child from certain diseases. In the case of Coronavirus, vaccination has shown to help prevent serious symptoms and even death.

At the time this blog was written, the majority of people vaccinated are 18- 60+ years old. As the virus mutates in order to survive, it will target more of those who are unvaccinated, most of whom fall between the ages of 0-18 years.

In India, COVAXIN is the only vaccine authorized for children aged 15 to 18. Created by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Virology (NIV), COVAXIN India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccine is produced using Whole-Virion Inactivated Vero Cell derived platform technology. Inactivated vaccines cannot replicate and thus are unlikely to revert and produce pathological effects. They are made up of a dead virus that can't infect people but can still instruct the immune system to combat the infection.

If you or your child have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with coronavirus, it's important to follow all guidelines and protocols to ensure your child does not infect other members in the house that are vulnerable due to comorbidities.

If you are a parent, it is important that you get vaccinated as soon as possible so that you don't become infected yourself and pass the virus to your child. You may also want to talk with your doctor about vaccination if you've been exposed to a coronavirus patient but haven't developed any symptoms. While you may be asymptomatic, you can still spread the virus to others.

If your child has already contracted coronavirus, vaccination may help improve the outcome of the illness. Vaccination is also important for people traveling as there is a higher risk of coronavirus infection during travel. You'll be exposed to many situations where there is not sufficient ventilation or adequate social distancing, both important ways of protection against COVID-19.

Vaccination is important not just for the prevention of coronavirus, but also for other vaccine-preventable illnesses. Make sure you are fully informed about the benefits and risks of vaccination and talk to your doctor.
