Scientists Invent A Targeted Therapy To Cure Dementia And ALS

A genetic brain disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, attacks the nerve cells of your muscles. If it progresses, the brain lobes can get damaged, resulting in dementia and eventually death. Scientists at the University of Florida (UF) have invented a medicine in the form of pills and injections that works by destroying those segments of the gene that may result in ALS. Scientists believe the compound can cross the blood-brain barrier to eradicate toxic genes.
