Scrub typhus: The deadly infection causing unexpected deaths in Indian states

Scrub typhus is an infectious disease that spreads through the bites of a mite, commonly found in grass and on animals like rats, rabbits, mice, and squirrels. Symptoms of this illness include high fever, rash, headache, body aches, and red eyes. If left untreated, it can lead to potential organ failure. Individuals involved in gardening are at a higher risk and hence, are advised to use rodent controls and maintain a clean environment through the removal of shrubs and vegetation.
