Question

I'm noticing a thin black line on the nail of my right thumb, and it seems to be permanent. It's been there for a while, grows with the nail, and isn't just a stain or mark that can be washed off. I recently came across some information online suggesting it might be a sign of melanoma, which is a bit worrying. I'm aware that online info can sometimes be exaggerated, but I want to be sure there's nothing serious going on. Could this be a cause for concern?
