Question
I've been dealing with a perianal abscess, and my ultrasound confirmed it. The doctors are saying I should have surgery, and I'm really anxious about any potential long-term effects it could have. Is surgery the only option here, or are there any alternatives I could consider? I'd really appreciate some guidance on this.

Surgery is usually the most effective treatment for perianal abscesses, and while there may be some short-term discomfort and risk of complications, long-term effects are generally minimal; however, to discuss alternatives and potential risks, consult your surgeon
