Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach.

Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR is a combination of two drugs: Ilaprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Ilaprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Proton pumps are tiny substances in the stomach lining that help it make acid to digest food. Ilaprazole prevents proton pumps from working properly. This reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes. Domperidone works by increasing the movement of food through the stomach and the digestive tract more quickly and in this way reduces the feeling of bloating, fullness and indigestion. It also blocks messages between parts of your brain called the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and the vomiting centre. This stops you from feeling sick (nauseous) and prevents you from vomiting. Together, Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR helps treat acidity-related problems.

Take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR as prescribed. You are advised to take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence, dryness in the mouth, dizziness, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. Do not take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you have black, tarry bowel motions; blockage or tear in your intestines, disorder known as phenylketonuria, low potassium, or magnesium level. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR should not be given to children below 12 years of age. Avoid consuming alcohol and Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Do not take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have black, tarry bowel motions, blockage or tear in your intestines, a tumor of the pituitary gland called a prolactinoma, have a disorder known as phenylketonuria. Inform your doctor before taking Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you have AIDS/HIV, stomach tumor, kidney, heart, or liver disease. Do not take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Stop taking Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR and inform your doctor if you notice heart rhythm disorders such as palpitations, or trouble breathing.  Inform your doctor about all your ongoing medications used to treat fungal infections, bacterial infections, high blood pressure medication, depression medications, AIDS/HIV medications.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR may have interaction with bepridil (treat angina), cisapride, darunavir (HIV/AIDS medication), dronedarone, fluconazole (antifungal), ketoconazole (antifungal), mesoridazine, pimozide (an antipsychotic drug), piperaquine (antimalarial), posaconazole (antifungal), saquinavir (HIV/AIDS medication), sparfloxacin (antibiotic), terfenadine (allergy medicine), thioridazine (antipsychotic), ziprasidone, amoxicillin (antibiotic), clarithromycin (antibiotic), and midazolam (anesthesia).

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid alcohol consumption as alcohol intake leads to increased stomach acid production, increasing acidity, and heartburn.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR may have interactions with liver or kidney problems, phenylketonuria (rare inherited disorder), stomach or intestines obstruction, prolactinoma (noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland), and heart failure.

• Eat smaller meals more often.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.
• Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.
• Avoid lying down after eating as it causes acid reflux.
• Avoid tight-fitting clothes as it might increase the pressure on the abdomen leading to acid reflux.
• Practice relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
• Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda.
• Avoid sitting continuously as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5minutes break every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.

Do not take Ilavib D 30mg/10mg Capsule SR for more than four weeks of duration without consulting the doctor.
