Question
I had titanium plate surgery for a tibia and fibula fracture 4 months ago but now my leg is swollen and red. My orthopedic surgeon recommended removing the plate. What could be causing this and is removal the only option?

Swelling and redness at the site of a titanium plate implant, four months after surgery, can indicate several possibilities, including infection, a reaction to the implant, or a problem with the bone healing process. Removal of the plate might be recommended by your surgeon, but it's not always the only solution; other options could be explored
