Question
I'm really concerned about having an IGE level that's over 3000, and it's causing me to itch all over. I've been on some medications prescribed by my doctor for the past two months, but they don't seem to be helping. Plus, I've noticed I've been gaining a lot of weight since starting them. Could this high IGE level be dangerous, or is there something else I can try to help with the itching?

In such cases, it is important to discuss alternative treatment options with your doctor. To help reduce itching and lower your IGE levels, you can consider taking antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10mg once daily. Additionally, your doctor may also prescribe corticosteroids like Prednisone in a low dose to help control the itching. It is important to follow your doctor's advice and regularly monitor your IGE levels to assess the effectiveness of the treatment. Severe IGE levels can pose a risk as it indicates an overactive immune response, which can lead to various allergic reactions. It is important to address the underlying cause of the elevated IGE levels and work with your doctor to manage your symptoms effectively.
