Question

I'm really concerned about my wife's handsthey're turning purple, especially on the knuckles. They look like they're dirty, but there's actually no dirt on them. She mentioned that they feel really dry, probably because of the cold winter air. Is this just dry skin, or could it be something more serious?

The purple discoloration on your wife's knuckles, despite appearing clean, could be due to Raynaud's phenomenon, a condition causing blood vessel constriction in response to cold temperatures, or it might be a sign of poor circulation, dry skin, or a nutritional deficiency; to rule out any underlying conditions, consult a dermatologist
