Question
I'm worried about what happens if an Indian house lizard bites you. Is it poisonous, or can it cause some kind of health issue? Also, what should I do first if it happens?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
Indian house lizard bites are generally not poisonous and do not cause serious health issues. However, the bite can sometimes lead to mild irritation, redness, or swelling at the site of the bite. If a lizard bites you, the first aid would involve cleaning the affected area with soap and water to prevent infection. You can apply a cold compress to reduce any swelling or pain. Over-the-counter antiseptic cream can also be applied to the bite area to prevent infection. If there is persistent pain or signs of infection, it is advisable to seek medical attention.
