I've been having pain at the base of my second toe for two months and the x-ray shows a cystic expansile lesion there labeled as possible enchondroma. How serious is this and what treatment options do I have? The report mentions it might need critical surgery - how long would recovery take if that's the case?

I'm unsure if I need surgery my main goal is to walk normally, cycle, and run without restrictions. I don't want to feel limited, but I'll do surgery if it's absolutely necessary. Can you help me understand if surgery is the only way to get back to normal?
