I've been wearing glasses since I was 9 and switched to contact lenses for the past 6 years. My eyesight keeps getting worse every year right now, my left eye is SPH 8.00 CYL 1.75 AX 140 BC 8.7 DIA 14.5 and my right eye is SPH 8.00 CYL 1.25 AX 030 BC 8.7 DIA 14.5. I'm really worried because I can't imagine living without contacts. Is there any way to stop my vision from worsening or even improve it? I'm 21 now are there any surgery options that could help fix this?

Why do so many doctors and nurses wear glasses instead of getting laser eye surgery even when their eyes are fit for it? The doctor I consulted said it's just cosmetic and advised against surgery, but I'm curious why medical professionals seem to prefer specs over LASIK if it's safe and effective
