Question

I've had a hoarse voice for 4 months and was diagnosed with vocal cord polyps. The doctor prescribed meds for 10 days and suggested a voice test. Will my voice return to normal in 10 days or would I need surgery to get it back to normal

It's unlikely your voice will return to normal within 10 days of medication for vocal cord polyps. While medication can help reduce inflammation and swelling, complete recovery often requires more time and potentially other treatments like voice therapy or, in some cases, surgery to remove the polyps. I've been dealing with this issue for about 10 months now, and it's really stressing me out. It all began with some pain in my neck, and I felt like there was a weird mass or something abnormal inside. I went to a doc in ST Jones Bangalore, and he suggested an ultrasound, which showed a submandibular gland infection. He put me on a 7-day antibiotic course, twice, but it didn't help. Then they did an FNAC, but nothing was found, and I got another round of antibiotics, still with no improvement. After that, the doc recommended a biopsy, so I went over to Manipal hospital for another opinion. There, another ultrasound was done, which now didn't show any gland issues but indicated a mild swelling in the lymph node. Again, I was given a 7-day antibiotic, and still, nothing's changed. I've been to the doctor four times now, and they're just giving me medicine. But my pain is getting worse every day, and I'm really scared that it might be something serious. The symptoms keep changing, too. Lately, I feel numbness on my left side and head and have trouble swallowing and chewing. Could you advise me on what to do next?

I've been dealing with frequent sinusitis that worsens my asthma, and I'm wondering if surgery for a deviated septum could help. I'm tired of relying on meds like cetirizine and montelukast and have started jal neti and vaman for relief. Would surgery actually make a difference or are there other options I should consider?
