Question

I've had an oral mucous retention cyst for about a year and a half now. I ignored it at first, but now I want to get rid of it. Is surgery the only way to remove it, or are there antibiotics that can help? If I do get surgery, will the stitches dissolve on their own and how long does that usually take? Also, will there be a permanent scar after it's removed?

Oral mucous retention cysts usually require surgery for removal, as antibiotics won’t solve the problem. The stitches used during surgery are often dissolvable, and scarring can be minimal, depending on the surgery technique.
