Question

My left calcaneus bone is bigger and wider than the right one, causing leg pain and a leg length difference. Is there any surgery to make the calcaneus smaller?

While it's not common to surgically reduce the size of a calcaneus (heel bone) to correct leg length discrepancy, there are surgical options for addressing leg length differences and associated pain. These typically involve either shortening the longer leg or lengthening the shorter leg. If the calcaneus is abnormally wide due to a fracture or other condition, surgery to reshape the bone might be an option, but this is a distinct procedure from leg lengthening or shortening
