My mom has had thyroid disease for 18 years and has been taking thyronorm tablets regularly. Lately, her thyroid gland is swelling more and causing more issues should she consider surgery? If she gets surgery, will it completely cure her condition?

I'm dealing with hypothyroidism, but it's stable right now. A few days back, I had a fever and took Crocin for a day, which made the fever go away. But now I'm having these episodes where it feels like I can't breathe properlysometimes when I'm sitting, other times when I'm standing.
