Question

My uncle has been in the hospital for 10 days with a comminuted displaced fracture of his right acetabulum that also extends into the superior pubic ramus. The scan report suggests surgery but we're unsure is surgery the only option or are there other ways to treat this? He's been on bed rest so far and we're worried about the best next steps. Could you give a second opinion on whether surgery is necessary or if there are alternatives?

Persistent fistula with pus usually needs surgery; medications can control symptoms but won’t close the tract—consult a colorectal surgeon for best outcome.
