Question

Why is the skin on the upper part of my ear turning black with discoloration? I'm not sure if I should see a dermatologist or an ear specialist about this. How can I make that area match my natural skin color?

It sounds like you may be experiencing a condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can occur after inflammation or injury to the skin. To help clear the discoloration and match it with your actual skin color, you can try using a topical cream containing hydroquinone, such as Melalite cream. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area once daily in the evening. Additionally, using a sunscreen with a high SPF on the affected area can help prevent further darkening of the skin. You can try using a sunscreen like Sunstop 30 lotion and reapply it every few hours when exposed to sunlight.
