Is a blood sugar of 107 normal for someone without diabetes?
Fasting blood sugar test In general: Less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L ) is normal. 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L ) is diagnosed as prediabetes. 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L ) or higher on two separate tests is diagnosed as diabetes.
Exact cause is unknown but most appreciated hypothesis is either low insulin or insulin resistance due to genetic +/- environmental factors. Symptoms and signs include increased thirst, extreme hunger, unexplained weight loss, frequent urination, fatigue, irritability, blurred vision, slow healing wounds, presence of ketones in urine, fruity odour and frequent infections.Treatment is either tablets or insulin to control blood sugar levels along with life style modifications (Diet + exercise).
