Can you get chicken pox twice?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
Most people who have had chicken pox once will be immune to the disease for lifetime but reinfection may happen in persons with suppressed immunity. Also, the virus may remain inactive in the nerves and may reactivate anytime later in life.

A 5-year-old female can rarely get chickenpox twice, but it is uncommon. Usually, after the first infection, the body develops immunity.
-
Chickenpox Immunity: Most children develop strong immunity after the first infection, which protects them from getting it again.
-
Possible Reasons for Second Infection: Sometimes, if the first infection was very mild or misdiagnosed, a second episode might occur.
-
Consult a Doctor: If you suspect a second case of chickenpox, it's important to see a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and care.
-
Prevention: Vaccination can help prevent chickenpox or reduce its severity.
If you have concerns about your child's health, please consult your pediatrician for personalized advice and care.

View allI'm really worried about my 10-month-old baby girl. She had a high fever and a febrile seizure, so we had an MRI, EEG, and ultrasound done, but thankfully all the reports came back normal. We're giving her Taxim O, 3 ml, as an antibiotic. I'm concerned about giving antibiotics frequently and if there are any side effects we should watch for. Also, I've noticed she's passing urine more often than usual. Is that something to be alarmed about, or could it be normal? If you have any other advice, Id really appreciate it.

I'm really worried because my 7-year-old's platelet count just dropped from 172,000 to 130,000 in just a day, and on top of that, their WBC count shot up from 6,400 to 25,000. They're dealing with Dengue right now. Could this be risky? What's the threshold for platelet levels to become dangerous? What should we do?
This rapid change in blood counts indicates a worsening condition. In Dengue fever, a platelet count below 20000 is considered dangerous and requires immediate medical attention. I recommend immediate hospitalization for close monitoring and management. The child may require intravenous fluids, platelet transfusion, and other supportive care as deemed necessary by the healthcare provider. It is important to closely monitor the child's condition and follow the healthcare provider's recommendations for further treatment.

My 6-year-old started vomiting this morning right after drinking water, and now he's not able to eat much. By this afternoon, he's also complaining about stomach pain. I'm really worried. What could be causing this, and what should I do to help him feel better?
I recommend giving him syrup Ondansetron for vomiting, syrup Domperidone for stomach pain, and syrup Omeprazole to reduce stomach acid. These medications are commonly available in India and can help alleviate his symptoms.
