Good Evening, Doctor. My mother recent blood report shows an elevated PDW value. Should we be concerned and get it checked further? A slightly raised PDW (platelet distribution width) without symptoms is not usually serious. It may be related to inflammation or hormonal changes in menopause. No specific treatment is needed if other counts are normal. Repeat the CBC after a few weeks to track changes.

My mother has been experiencing low back pain around the left hip along with a fever ranging from 99 to 100 for the past 25 days. The fever occurs at least twice daily. My baby is 1.6 years old. Last week, he had fever, cold, and cough. Now, the fever has subsided and he only coughs occasionally, but I have noticed that he is more cranky than usual and sleeps a lot.
