Got the MRI report showing disc extrusion - is surgery absolutely necessary for this? We're really hesitant about going under the knife, are there other treatment options that could work instead? Just worried about whether this can be managed without surgery

Some cases can be managed without surgery, while others may require it for effective treatment. A detailed evaluation will help decide the best course of action.

View allMy wife has been dealing with a CSF leak since March 21st what should we be doing at home to help her feel better? Also, any idea how much the surgery might cost?
While a CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) leak is best treated under the supervision of a doctor, some initial conservative measures can be taken at home to manage symptoms and potentially help the leak heal. These include bed rest, increased fluid intake, and avoiding activities that increase head pressure The cost of CSF leak surgery in India varies, but generally, an endoscopic repair procedure can cost around ‚Çπ2.5 lakh. However, some cases may have lower costs, and in some instances, procedures have been performed free of cost

My dad is 60 and his MRI showed a small T2 FLAIR hyperintense lesion near the right CP angle, around the 8th nerve and root exit zone of the right 5th nerve. The report says it's likely a trigeminal schwannoma. How serious is this? Would he need surgery or radiation treatment?
A trigeminal schwannoma, confirmed by MRI showing a T2 FLAIR hyperintense lesion in the CP angle, is generally considered a benign tumor that can often be managed with surgery. The tumor's size and location near the 8th and 5th cranial nerves require careful consideration, but surgical removal is often the primary treatment. Radiation therapy may also be an option in some cases, particularly for larger or unresectable tumors

I've been dealing with sciatica pain for 3 months and my doctor recommended spine surgery or injections. I'm not sure what to do next should I get a second opinion from a neurosurgeon or go ahead with the treatment they suggested? I'm worried about making the right choice for long-term relief
