Hi Doctor, I am 29 weeks pregnant. I did my GTT test four days ago. My fasting was 88, 1 hour post 75 mg glucose was 179, and 2 hour post was 160. The doctor advised me to monitor blood sugar at home twice a day at two day intervals (FBS, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner alternatively, and 1 hour post meal). On 13th, my fasting was 78, and 1 hour post lunch was 115. On 14th, 1 hour post breakfast was 157, and 2 hour post breakfast was 117. Today, 1 hour post breakfast was 161, and 2 hour post was 102. Are my readings correct? I am a bit worried. The doctor told me to measure only 1 hour post readings, but I am also measuring 2 hour readings. Please help me understand what I should do to control this diabetes? I also have PCOD and thyroid issues for the last four years.

Your GTT readings (179 at 1hr and 160 at 2hr) suggest gestational diabetes (GDM). Fasting 78 to 88 and some 1 hr post meal values greater than 140 show mild spikes. Focus on monitoring only 1 hour post meal, as advised. Eat small, balanced meals, avoid sugar, rice, and refined carbs. Keep a regular check on thyroid levels also.

Take a Glucose Fasting and PP Test Test or Take a HbA1c Test (Hemoglobin A1c) Test
