Hi, I am a 36 year old female. I developed a urinary tract infection last week and am currently taking antibiotics for it. During the infection, I experienced fever, shivering, and significant weakness. My urine report showed protein as well as a large number of pus cells. Can a UTI cause protein to appear in the urine?

Yes, protein in urine during UTI is common due to kidney inflammation or infection related stress. It usually resolves after treatment. If protein persists post UTI, kidney evaluation is needed. Complete the antibiotic course and re test urine after recovery.
