Question
Hi, my wife has been having a urine infection for the last 2 to 3 days, and the burning sensation is not subsiding. We started her on Alkasol, and she took 2 to 3 doses, but the burning sometimes improves and sometimes comes back. A week ago, she had a severe throat infection for which she took antibiotics and cold medicines after consulting a doctor. During that time, we did almost all tests, including urine culture, urine routine, CBC, and dengue profile, but almost everything was negative, except a slight positive result in urine routine, and the culture was normal. Please advise what to do now?

Persistent burning during urination may suggest incomplete resolution of UTI or irritation from antibiotics. If the urine culture was negative, it could be a non bacterial or post antibiotic irritation. Continue Alkasol + 2 to 3 liters water daily. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, repeat urine routine + culture, and consider a mild urinary antibiotic like nitrofurantoin (only if prescribed). Consider getting a Pelvic Ultrasound done to rule out the cause of UTI.
Dr. Rohinipriyanka Suggests...
Take a URINE ROUTINE + CULTURE SENSITIVITY Test or Take a COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT (CBC) Test
