I got a series of 5 rabies shots about a month back, and it was the Abhayrab brand. Recently, I got scratched by a dog again, so I decided to get 3 booster doses instead of the usual 2. I'm really anxious about whether having so many vaccines could cause any serious side effects. Could you please advise? I'm worried and need some guidance.

I'm really worried about my recent exposure and I'm not sure about the window period for an HIV test. Can you tell me how long I should wait before getting tested? Also, I'm looking to find an ICTC government center in Bangalore. Could you advise on where I might find one?

The window period for an HIV test is typically up to 12 weeks after exposure, as it takes time for the body to develop antibodies that can be detected by tests like ELISA. In Bangalore, you can find ICTC (Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre) and government centers at various locations. Some options include: - National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Bengaluru Branch: This branch offers HIV testing and counseling services. - Government Hospitals: Many government hospitals in Bangalore have ICTC centers that provide free or low-cost HIV testing and counseling services. - Private Labs: Some private labs, like those listed on the Practo website, offer HIV testing services, including home sample collection.

I got bitten by a dog about three years ago and didn't get an anti-rabies vaccine then or since. I'm really worried about the risk of rabies now. The dog was a pet, but I dont know if it was vaccinated. It bit the fingers on my right hand, and I haven't had any symptoms so far. Can I still get a vaccine for that old bite?

No, u don't need to do anything now. Rabies if it were to acquired from dog it will get into a person within a day to a week or two. Nothing to worry for now.

Hey, I had a question about Rabipur injections. So basically, I got 5 shots of it around 14 years ago. I'm wondering if I need to get a booster dose now, and if it's something that lasts for life. Also, how many doses are we usually supposed to get anyway? Appreciate any advice!

It provides immunity for 10yrs.But if you have doubts of exposure to dogs, then getting a booster is no harm.
