I had gallbladder surgery 2 days ago with dissolvable stitches and the bandage is off now. I'm taking antacids but wondering if I should also take antibiotics just to be safe

It's understandable to be concerned about potential infections after surgery, but you should generally only take antibiotics if specifically prescribed by your doctor. Antibiotic use should be guided by your healthcare provider based on their assessment of your individual situation. If you have any concerns about your wound or recovery, it's always best to contact your doctor or other healthcare provider for personalized advice

View allMy mom was just diagnosed with multiple gallbladder stones and the doctor recommended surgery to remove her gallbladder. Is there any way to treat this without going through surgery? We're worried about the risks and recovery time
Non-surgical options like medicines or dissolving agents rarely work for multiple gallstones—monitoring risks outweigh benefits in most cases.

I had fissure surgery 5 years ago and now there's a perianal abscess near my anus. The scan shows a small thick-walled abscess about 15x12mm at the 6 o'clock position, 13mm deep to the anal verge. No mass or deep issues in the rectum were found. Should I be worried about this abscess coming back after treatment? What are my options to prevent it from recurring?
Yes, there's a possibility that your perianal abscess could recur, especially if an anal fistula is present. Treatment usually involves incision and drainage, and sometimes surgery to address a fistula if present. Preventing recurrence involves good hygiene, preventing constipation, and potentially surgical intervention for fistula management
