I had a right side inguinal hernia mesh repair surgery 3 years ago and now I've developed a new hernia on the left side. I'm considering another mesh repair but I'm worried about hernia recurrence after mesh surgery. Does having mesh repair increase the chances of the hernia coming back compared to other types of repairs? What's the likelihood of recurrence with a second mesh surgery?

Had ID surgery for a breast abscess 4 days ago with drain pipes still in place. During my dressing today, the surgeon noticed a possible fistula forming and advised me to pump the affected breast. My scan report shows mild probe tenderness in the right iliac fossa and a mildly dilated appendix at 5mm with a few enlarged lymph nodes in the RIF. It says no perforation but mentions subacute appendicitis. No kidney stones or hydronephrosis were found. Do I need surgery for this or can it be managed with meds?

Subacute appendicitis with probe tenderness can sometimes be managed with antibiotics, but recurrence risk makes surgery advisable.
