I have been treating thyroid for many years, but for the last few months, it has not been well controlled. My medicine dose was recently increased as per my doctor advice. However, I am experiencing mild chest tightness and discomfort most of the time, with no other symptoms.

Uncontrolled thyroid (especially hypothyroidism) can cause muscle tightness, chest discomfort, or anxiety like symptoms. If the chest discomfort is mild and not accompanied by pain, breathlessness, or dizziness, it may be thyroid or muscular related. If persistent, get heart and thyroid levels re evaluated. Make sure you are taking thyroid medicine correctly (empty stomach, same time daily).

I have been having thyroid problems for more than two years and that is why I am facing so much pain in my arms and legs. This pain has been going on for more than two years. I have consulted a few physicians and orthopaedic doctors but still have so much pain that I am not able to stand for more than an hour and cannot walk much. My blood report is normal and my weight is not high. Since the thyroid problem was identified, digestive process has become very poor.

My mother is 60 years old and has been taking Eltroxin 75 mcg for the past two months, as her TSH was 5.00 at that time. Prior to that, she had been taking Eltroxin 50 mcg for the last ten years. She recently had a thyroid test and the results are: T3: 0.90 ng/mL T4: 9.30 microgram/dL TSH: 16.23 mIU/L I do not understand why her TSH has increased so significantly despite taking her medication regularly. Please advise what steps we should take now.
