I was in an accident a couple weeks back and got some injuries on my elbow, forearm, and knee. Initially, my knee swelled up, not exactly where the injury was, but close by. All the injuries have healed now, but there's still swelling in that spot. I'm concerned whether it's just swelling or maybe some blood clotting. I couldn't bend my knee before, but now I can, although there's still some pain where the swelling is. Could you give me some advice on what's going on?

It sounds like the swelling near your knee could be due to a soft tissue injury or internal bruising, which can sometimes take longer to heal. Since you can now bend your knee, that's a positive sign, but the pain and swelling might take a little more time to subside. I recommend applying ice and elevating the knee, and if the pain persists or worsens, consider consulting a doctor for further evaluation and possible imaging.

Please first do appropriate investigation under the advice of a rheumatologist and determine if knee replacement is the solution to her problem.
