I'm dealing with a persistent cough and I have asthma, too. The cough seems to be getting worse over time. Could you suggest what kind of medicine I should take to help with this cough?

My husband has active Tuberculosis and he's having a really hard time sleeping at night because of his intense coughing. It's gotten to the point where our six-month-old son and I can't sleep either since we all share the same room. I'm really concerned and was wondering if theres a way to help manage his cough so we can all get some rest. What should I do?

salbutamol syrup for 5 days

I'm really worried about my mom. She's been coughing for a week, and after we went to see a physician, she was given pulmoclear tablets. But now, after taking them for two days, she's having trouble breathing and feels tightness in her chest. Could this be a side effect of the tablet? Theres no family history of asthma or any breathing issues, and she was perfectly fine before starting the medication. I read somewhere that breathing problems are a rare but serious side effect of pulmoclear. Could this be true?

It's possible that your mother is experiencing a side effect from Pulmoclear, as breathing difficulty and chest tightness can occur, though rarely. I recommend stopping the medication and contacting her physician immediately to discuss her symptoms and explore alternative treatments.

I'm dealing with a cold that originally started in my sinuses, but now it's moved down to my chest. I've got a lot of chest congestion and it's getting hard to breathe at times. I'm constantly coughing up phlegm, and sometimes I just can't seem to get relief from the coughing. What can I do to alleviate these symptoms?

I recommend taking an over-the-counter medication like Mucinex DM (guaifenesindextromethorphan) to help with chest congestion and to loosen mucus. The usual dosage is 1-2 tablets every 12 hours. Additionally, you can try using a humidifier to help with breathing and staying hydrated to help loosen the mucus. If symptoms persist or worsen, please seek medical attention.
