I'm dealing with ringworm in my groin, forehead, and near my eye. The one in the groin has been particularly persistent since I got pregnant 8 months ago, and it's just not going away. I havent taken any oral meds because Im breastfeeding my 8-month-old. I've been using Terbinaforce Plus Cream and Fintop Ebernet, but I'm worried they're not enough. What can I do? Is there something else safer to try while nursing?

Ringworm (Tinea) can be challenging to treat, especially while breastfeeding.

Current Treatment

Terbinaforce Plus Cream and Fintop + Ebernet are topical treatments that can help manage symptoms. However, the continuous presence of ringworm in your groin area suggests that the treatment might not be fully effective.

Additional Measures

  1. Maintain good hygiene: Wash the affected areas with soap and water, and dry thoroughly.
  2. Change clothes and bedding regularly: Prevent the spread of fungal spores.
  3. Avoid sharing personal items: Towels, clothing, and other personal items can spread the infection.

Breastfeeding-Friendly Oral Medications

Consult your doctor about oral medications that are safe while breastfeeding, such as:

  1. Griseofulvin: An antifungal medication that can be used while breastfeeding.
  2. Fluconazole: A single-dose oral medication that can be used to treat ringworm.

Consult a Doctor

Schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss:

  1. Adjusting your treatment plan: Explore alternative topical treatments or oral medications.
  2. Ensuring the infection doesn't spread: Get guidance on preventing the spread of ringworm to other areas.

Remember to consult your doctor before making any changes to your treatment plan.

I've been dealing with lichen planus for around four years now, and the spots it left on my skin have turned really dark. I'm really worried about how they look. Can you suggest any ways to lighten or remove these dark spots?

-Hi, the dark spots from lichen planus (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) can take time to fade. Use sunscreen daily, consider creams with ingredients like kojic acid or glycolic acid, and consult a dermatologist for treatments like chemical peels or l

I've had this allergy on my hand for about three months now. Initially, it seemed really small, so I didn't pay much attention to it, but recently it's grown quite big. Should I be worried about it? What steps can I take to treat it, and is it normal for it to have gotten this much worse over time?

It sounds like you may have developed a skin infection or a severe allergic reaction. I recommend using a topical corticosteroid cream like Betamethasone 0.1% twice a day on the affected area. Additionally, taking an oral antihistamine like Cetirizine 10mg once daily can help with itching and inflammation. It is important to keep the area clean and dry, and avoid scratching to prevent further irritation. If the condition does not improve or worsens, please seek medical attention for further evaluation and management.

I'm reaching out because my skin doctor diagnosed me with ringworm and suggested I use Funginil soap and cream. It's been about a month now, but the ringworm hasn't gone away. Am I on the right track with this treatment?

Ringworm can sometimes be stubborn to treat. In addition to using funginil soap and cream, I recommend adding an antifungal medication like Terbinafine (brand name Lamisil) cream to your treatment regimen. Apply the Terbinafine cream twice daily for at least 2 weeks. If the ringworm persists, consult your doctor for further evaluation and possible oral antifungal medication.
