I'm dealing with some hardened ear wax buildup, and when my doctor tried to take it out last time, it was really painful. The doctor suggested using anesthesia for the removal, but I'm worried about the cost of the procedure. Is there a more affordable alternative that I could consider?

Getting shampoo and water into my left ear while washing my hair has made it hurt and now there's a throbbing sensation in my ear, kind of like a heartbeat. What could be going on, and should I be worried about this?
