I'm dealing with some mild acanthosis nigricans on my hands and neck, and I'm really hoping to get some advice on the best medication available to help with this. What treatments are usually recommended for someone with my symptoms?

Acanthosis nigricans (AN) treatment focuses on addressing underlying causes and managing symptoms.

Topical Treatments

  1. Retinoids: Derivatives of vitamin A, helping to reduce skin darkening and thickness.
  2. Hydroquinone: Fades skin hyperpigmentation.
  3. Salicylic acid: Exfoliates the skin, improving texture and tone.

Oral Medications

  1. Metformin: For AN associated with insulin resistance or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
  2. Insulin-sensitizing agents: Like pioglitazone, for improving insulin sensitivity.

Lifestyle Changes

  1. Weight management: Maintaining a healthy weight can help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce AN symptoms.
  2. Exercise regularly: Improves insulin sensitivity and overall health.
  3. Balanced diet: Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods to support overall health.

Natural Remedies

  1. Tea tree oil: Has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help soothe and calm the skin.
  2. Aloe vera: May help reduce inflammation and promote skin

I've recently discovered a lump under the skin on my mons pubis. It's not really painful at all, but it does hurt a bit when I touch it. Should I be concerned about this? What could it possibly be?

The lump you are describing could be a swollen lymph node, an ingrown hair, or a cyst. To help reduce any inflammation or pain, you can try using over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen. If the lump persists or becomes more painful, it is important to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I'm a 20-year-old guy and I've been dealing with hair thinning for about 10 months now. My hair used to be super thick, dense, and even wavy at 11 inches long. It started thinning at the whorl and spread in a whirpool direction across the top, front, and the sides. In the last 3 months, I've noticed noticeable thinning at my crown and the back of my head too. I did get a buzz cut 5 months ago, and my temples have receded just a bit, maybe a centimeter. My scalp was super dry and tight a while ago but that seems to be back to normal now. I've always had dandruff, those small white flakes, mostly during the winters. Looking at my family history, both grandfathers had no hair loss until the end. My dads at a Norwood 2, two uncles are bald, probably due to diabetes, and one has a full head of hair. On my moms side, two uncles are bald and two have no hair loss. I'm concerned because I've lost a lot of hair density in these 10 months, it's probably half what I had before. Any advice on whats happening or what I should do? I've got some photos attached if that helps.

this looks like androgenic alopecia which is male pattern baldness, there are good treatment modalities which would help in preventing further hairfall and regrowth of your hair, visit your dermatologist for appropriate management, above this consume balanced diet with extra protien which would help in giving strength to your hair.
