I'm having some major issues with my left ear that are really affecting my sleep. I found out I have a middle ear infection and after going through a bunch of tests like X-rays, blood work, an echocardiogram, ECG, and a CT scan of the mastoid, my doctor is suggesting a major surgery. Can you tell me what this surgery is called? I'm also really worried about any health risks that might come with it.

I'm dealing with this weird sensation where the left side of my mouth always feels itchy and slightly painful, almost like it's dry. It's just before my throat and past my left tonsil.
