I'm having some major issues with my left ear that are really affecting my sleep. I found out I have a middle ear infection and after going through a bunch of tests like X-rays, blood work, an echocardiogram, ECG, and a CT scan of the mastoid, my doctor is suggesting a major surgery. Can you tell me what this surgery is called? I'm also really worried about any health risks that might come with it.

View allI'm really puzzled about this weird feeling I've had in my throat for the past month after recovering from COVID. It's like something's stuck there, but it's not painful or irritating. It doesn't seem to be getting any better or worse, just kind of the same most days. Though I do notice it's more prominent in the evenings or when I'm lying down. It's strange because I don't have any trouble breathing, eating, or drinking, and if anything, swallowing food feels good. I tried antacids and PPIs for about three weeks, but they didn't help at all. I've been extra careful, eating boiled food and avoiding anything spicy because a little spice makes my stomach burn. I'm 21, and I really can't stop thinking about this. Is there something serious going on, or is this just some lingering after-effect I shouldn't worry too much about? What do you think it could be?
No need to worry that could be mucosal congestion it will self heal consume warm foods and maintain healthy lifestyle.

My 5.5-year-old has been getting ear pain every few months, and three different ENT specialists recommended adenoid removal and grommets for fluid based on audiometry and impedance tests. We're hesitant about surgery at his age how do we know if the pain or frequency is severe enough to really need it?
Based on the recommendations of multiple ENT specialists and the presence of recurrent ear pain, the advice to remove adenoids and insert grommets is likely due to chronic ear infections and/or glue ear (fluid buildup in the middle ear).
