I'm really curious about treating these little bumps on my lips called Fordyce granules. I've heard that tretinoin gel 0.025 might help, but I'm not sure if it's effective for this. Are there better options I should consider? I'm just looking for something that actually works.

Tretinoin gel 0.025 can be beneficial in reducing Fordyce granules on the lips to some extent. Fordyce granules are small, yellowish or white bumps on the lips caused by the abnormal presence of sebaceous glands.

Benefits of Tretinoin Gel 0.025

  1. Exfoliates skin: Tretinoin helps remove dead skin cells, which can aid in reducing the appearance of Fordyce granules.
  2. Unclogs pores: Tretinoin can help unclog pores, reducing the size and visibility of Fordyce granules.

Alternative Treatments

If Tretinoin gel 0.025 is not effective or suitable for you, consider the following alternatives:

  1. Isotretinoin: A stronger retinoid that can be more effective in reducing Fordyce granules.
  2. Microdermabrasion: A non-invasive exfoliating treatment that can help reduce the appearance of Fordyce granules.
  3. Laser treatment: Ablative or non-ablative laser treatments can help reduce the size and visibility of Fordyce granules.
  4. Chemical peels: A solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers and help reduce the appearance of Fordyce granules.

I've been dealing with some white patches on my face after using Dremz Hydroquinone cream and that Glowriance face wash with glycolic acid for my melasma. My doctor says it's this Tinea Versicolor infection. How long do you think it'll take for these patches to fade away? Also, are there any quick treatments like laser or dermabrasion that might help get rid of them faster?

as it is a fungal infection it would resolve soon, follow your doctors advice and have patience

I've had these leech bites from a few months ago, and even though I've been putting boroline on them regularly, they just won't go away. They're not super bothersome, but they do itch sometimes, and it's been quite a while now. Should I be worried or try something else?

Seems like the leech bites may have caused some irritation and itching. To help with the healing process and alleviate the itching, you can try applying an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream like Cortaid. Apply a thin layer on the affected area twice a day for about a week. Additionally, taking an oral antihistamine like Claritin can also help with the itching. Make sure to follow the recommended dosage on the packaging. If the symptoms persist or worsen, it would be best to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and management.

I've been dealing with really bad jock itch every summer and monsoon for the past 5 years. It's super annoying, and on top of that, I've noticed that I'm also losing some pubic hair. I'm wondering if there's any connection between this hair loss and maybe a fungal infection or something? I'm already using clotrimazole to try and handle the itch. Could that be linked somehow?

In addition to clotrimazole, you can also try using Terbinafine cream (brand name Lamisil) twice a day for 2-4 weeks to treat the fungal infection effectively. Make sure to keep the affected area clean and dry, and wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent further irritation.
