I've been dealing with high myopia with SPH powers of 7.50 and 7.25, and more recently, I was told I have a CYL of 1.50. While my SPH has been pretty stable, the CYL is new, and I'm not sure if it's settled down yet. I'm thinking about getting surgery to fix my vision but I'm unsure about which option is right for me. Would Lasik work, or should I be considering ICL or Contoura instead?

View allI'm really worried about my dad. He's been a heart patient and even had bypass surgery about five years ago. He's been on blood thinners ever since. Now he's dealing with cataracts and the eye doctors are saying he should stop his blood thinners for a week before the surgery. I'm not sure about this advice. Is it really necessary to stop taking those medicines? And if he does stop, could it cause any problems or risks for his heart condition?
For patients undergoing cataract surgery who are on blood thinners, it is important to consult with both the cardiologist and the ophthalmologist to determine the best course of action. Stopping blood thinners can increase the risk of blood clots and other complications during surgery. However, in some cases, the ophthalmologist may recommend temporarily stopping the blood thinner to reduce the risk of bleeding during the surgery. If the ophthalmologist has recommended stopping the blood thinner for a week before the cataract surgery, it is important to follow their advice. They may have specific protocols in place to minimize the risk of bleeding during the procedure. It is crucial to discuss this decision with both the cardiologist and the ophthalmologist to ensure the safest outcome for your father. I don't know.
