I've been dealing with this moderate acne issue for a while now because of my PCOS. I'm taking OCs and everything seemed to be under control, but now it's flaring up again. My doctor put me on Isotretinoin 10mg daily for a month and also suggested I use topical tretinoin 0.025mg once a day. Is it okay to use these two treatments together or should I be cautious about using them at the same time?

Understanding Your Medications
- Isotretinoin is an oral retinoid that reduces oil production and inflammation. Topical tretinoin helps with skin cell turnover. Both are effective for acne.
-
Potential Risks of Using Both Together
- Combining these can increase skin irritation, dryness, and sensitivity. Azelaic acid may also contribute to these effects.
-
Precautions and Monitoring
- Start with lower doses if possible. Use a gentle moisturizer and sunscreen. Monitor for side effects like severe dryness or irritation.
-
Importance of Medical Supervision
- Follow your dermatologist's advice closely. Report any severe side effects and attend regular follow-up visits.
-
Additional Tips for Managing PCOS-Related Acne
- Consider lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet and regular exercise. Hormonal management may also be beneficial.

I've been having this issue where every time I shave down there, I end up with these strange red bumps. I'm really clueless about what might be causing this and how I can prevent it. Could you give me some advice or suggestions on what I should do?
The red lumps may be a sign of contact dermatitis. This generally refers to an allergic inflammatory reaction on the skin seen due to contact with the metal of the shaving razor. You may want to switch to a ceramic blade, which is considerably less irritating to the skin. Also consider using soothing aftershaves, lotions or anti-inflammatory creams.

I've been dealing with this skin issue in my genital area for the past two weeks. There are these red rings that are super irritating and burn a lot. Ive tried using creams like ringguard and beetex, but they didnt help. Any idea what I can do about it? It's starting to really worry me.
It sounds like you may be experiencing a fungal infection, such as a ringworm. I recommend trying an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole (brand name Lotrimin) twice a day for at least 2 weeks. Additionally, you can take an oral antifungal medication like Fluconazole (brand name Diflucan) as prescribed by your doctor. Make sure to keep the affected area clean and dry, and avoid wearing tight clothing. If your symptoms persist, it's important to follow up with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
