I've been dealing with a terrible barking cough for the past three days and it's making my chest hurt from all the coughing. Everything I've been coughing up is clear, but I'm getting worried that it might be something more serious than just a cold, especially since I used to smoke. Could this be a sign of something else?

I've been having shortness of breath for about a week now, and it seems to be getting worse every day. I'm a bit worried about my CT report that mentions I have a soft tissue pleural-based nodular lesion in the left upper lobe. It's measuring about 27x18x30 mm. I'm not sure if I should go for a biopsy or a PET scan next. Could you advise on what might be the best course of action?
