I've been diagnosed with gallstones and my MRCP shows cholelithiasis along with a lower insertion of the cystic duct into the CHD My LFTs are off with SGOT at 115 SGPT 289 ALP 141 and total bilirubin 16 The MRCP also suggests chronic liver disease with a contracted right lobe enlarged caudate lobe and mildly irregular margins My doctor recommended a lap cholecystectomy but I'm worried about what's causing the liver disease and how it should be treated Can you explain the possible causes and treatment options

Gallstone treatment depends on whether the stones cause symptoms. If asymptomatic, they often don't require treatment, but if they cause pain or complications, surgery to remove the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) is the standard treatment. Medications like ursodeoxycholic acid can sometimes dissolve small, cholesterol-based stones

I found out I have a polyp during an endoscopy, and the doctor recommended a polypectomy. I'm a bit worried could this be an early sign of cancer? Also, is there any chance the polypectomy itself could cause malignancy later? And is there a way to tell if the polyp is benign or malignant without surgery or removing it?

A colon polyp found during endoscopy doesn't automatically mean cancer, but it's a good idea to remove it for preventative measures, as it can potentially become cancerous. While polypectomy itself doesn't cause malignancy, it can remove polyps that might otherwise become cancerous, There's no way to definitively tell if a polyp is benign or malignant without a biopsy, and the doctor will usually take samples during the polypectomy procedure.

I'm a 21-year-old guy with a sliding hiatal hernia, and my doctor said surgery isn't needed right now. I really want to start going to the gym but I'm worried about making my condition worse. Can I still do workouts or should I avoid certain exercises? Feeling pretty down about this and need some guidance.

For sliding hiatal hernia, you can still work out, but avoid exercises that strain the abdomen, such as heavy lifting or intense core workouts. Focus on low-impact activities, and discuss with your doctor for a safe exercise plan.
