I've been using a clindamycin gel and isotretinoin tablet for my acne and scars for about 12 days now, but my skin seems to be getting oilier and I'm not seeing much improvement. In fact, I feel like my acne is more noticeable. Do you think I should stop using them, or is this normal and I should give it more time?

Concerns about Clindamycin gel and Isotretinoin tablet.

Possible Reasons for Oily Skin and Lack of Improvement:

  1. Initial breakout: Isotretinoin can cause an initial flare-up of acne.
  2. Hormonal adjustments: Isotretinoin can affect hormone levels, leading to increased oil production.
  3. Clindamycin gel: Can cause skin dryness, but in some cases, may increase oil production.

Recommended Next Steps:

  1. Consult your dermatologist: Discuss your concerns and the lack of improvement.
  2. Do not stop medication abruptly: Consult your dermatologist before stopping or adjusting treatment.
  3. Consider adjustments to treatment: Your dermatologist may adjust the dosage or recommend additional treatments to control oil production and acne.

Maintain Good Skincare Habits:

  1. Use non-comedogenic products: Avoid products that clog pores.
  2. Keep your skin clean: Gently wash your face twice a day.
  3. Avoid picking or popping pimples: This can lead to further inflammation and scarring.

I'm worried about using Melaglow cream every day. Can it damage my skin if used regularly? If its not safe, would switching to Fairlite be a better option?

Using Melaglow cream regularly is generally safe for most individuals. It is commonly used to treat hyperpigmentation and dark spots on the skin. However, it is important to follow the recommended dosage and application instructions provided by your healthcare provider or mentioned on the packaging. If you experience any irritation, redness, or other adverse effects while using Melaglow cream, you should discontinue use and consult with a healthcare professional. Fairlite cream can be used as an alternative to Melaglow if you experience any negative reactions to Melaglow. Fairlite also helps in treating hyperpigmentation and dark spots. The recommended dosage and application instructions for Fairlite may vary, so it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider or pharmacist before using it.
