I've got this deep wound from hitting a wooden piece, and while its beginning to heal, Im noticing a couple of concerning things. The area around the wound feels numb, and there's a smell coming from it after I've applied oils and baby powder. Should I be worried about this? What can I do to help it heal properly?

My husband just had his gallbladder taken out this past Saturday and was home by Monday, but he's dealing with a lot of fluid buildup and came home with a drain tube.
