I've got this painful cut right over my tailbone, between my butt cheeks. It's super sore, reddish, and tender to the touch. I think it might be from dry skin. How can I help it heal? It's really bugging me!

uncomfortable and challenging to heal. Given the location and your description, it's essential to take good care of the wound to promote healing and prevent infection.
Causes and Prevention
- Dry skin condition: As you mentioned, dry skin can cause cracks and cuts. Keeping the area moisturized can help prevent future occurrences.
- Friction and irritation: The skin between the butt cheeks is prone to friction and irritation, which can exacerbate the condition.
Wound Care and Treatment
- Keep the area clean: Gently clean the wound with mild soap and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleansers.
- Pat dry, don't rub: Gently pat the area dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing, which can further irritate the skin.
- Apply a topical antibiotic ointment: Over-the-counter antibiotic ointments, such as Neosporin or Bacitracin, can help prevent infection.
- Use a hydrocortisone cream: For inflammation and itching, apply a hydrocortisone cream (0.5-1%) to the affected area.
- Moisturize: Apply a fragrance-free, gentle moisturizer to the affected area to keep it hydrated and promote healing.
- Avoid further irritation: Wear loose, breathable clothing and avoid activities that may exacerbate the condition.
When to Seek Medical Attention
- Increased pain or redness: If the pain or redness worsens, seek medical attention.
- Pus or discharge: If you notice pus or discharge from the wound, seek medical attention.
- Fever: If you develop a fever, seek medical attention.
- Difficulty healing: If the wound doesn't show signs of healing after 7-10 days, seek medical attention.

Can using Vaseline help with my Perioral Dermatitis? I think it might've started because I was using a topical steroid cream to lighten my skin. What should I do about this?
Using Vaseline may not be the most effective treatment for Perioral Dermatitis. Instead, you can try using a gentle moisturizer like Cetaphil or Aveeno to soothe the affected area. To treat Perioral Dermatitis caused by topical steroid cream, your doctor may prescribe a mild topical steroid like hydrocortisone cream for a short period of time. It is important to avoid using any steroid creams without medical supervision, as they can worsen the condition if not used correctly.
