I've got a pretty big boil on my left calf, and after a while, it started leaking pus and blood for around 15 days. It's been about 10 days since I began using antibiotics and ointment, as my dermatologist suggested, but it still isn't healing. I change the dressing with silver sulphadiazine gel every time. I'm really worried and wondering what might be going on. Any idea why it's not improving?

View allI'm trying to figure out which soap is better for my skin, Dermadew or Kojic, because my doctor recommended Dermadew along with Melaglow cream. I'm just wondering if I should stick with that advice or consider other options. Can you help?
Dermadew soap is generally considered better than Kojic soap due to its gentler and non-comedogenic properties, which suit most skin types, whereas Kojic soap can be harsh and drying; pairing Dermadew soap with Melaglow cream, which contains kojic acid, vitamin E, and glycerin, can help in skin brightening, hyperpigmentation reduction, and moisturizing, making it a suitable combination for skin tone evening and glow enhancement.

I've been dealing with LPP on my neck, face, and limbs for over a year now, and it just seems like it's getting worse. My face has become really dark, and even though there are no lesions, it looks like severe hyperpigmentation. I'm using sunscreen daily and have been undergoing phototherapy for the past two months with 600mg NBUVB, but it doesn't seem to be helping. In fact, my pigmentation is getting darker, and my skin is so dry that it feels like I can see wrinkles forming. Is there a home remedy or any treatment that can help improve my complexion and skin condition without side effects? Also, should I be applying sunscreen when I go jogging in the morning from 7 to 7:30 AM, especially since my doctor advised me to avoid the sun? Any advice would be appreciated!
I recommend discussing with your doctor about the possibility of adding topical medications such as hydroquinone, tretinoin, or corticosteroids to your treatment regimen to help improve the pigmentation. In terms of home remedies, you can consider using natural ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin C serums, or licorice extract which may help in brightening the skin tone. However, these remedies may not be as effective as prescription medications. It is crucial to continue using sunscreen, even during your morning jogging from 7 to 7:30 AM, as sun exposure can worsen hyperpigmentation. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours if you are outdoors. If you are concerned about dry skin and wrinkles, you can use a moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid or ceramides to help hydrate the skin and improve its texture. For further improvement in complexion and skin condition, you may also discuss with your doctor about chemical peels or laser treatments that can help in reducing hyperpigmentation and rejuvenating the skin.

I'm really puzzled here. A while back, I got diagnosed with candidal balanitis and tried Flucan and Terbicip, which cleared up the balanitis but left these persistent red lines around the crown of my glans. They itch randomly, sometimes in the center, sometimes on the sides, and it's been like this for six months. I even tried Valcivir with no luck, and its not getting worse or better. It's just constant itching without any sign of infection. It's been two months since I stopped taking any meds. What's going on with me? Hoping you can shed some light on this.
It sounds like you may be experiencing residual symptoms of candidal balanitis despite previous treatment. The red lines and itching sensation in the center and sides of the glans crown end may indicate ongoing inflammation or irritation. Since antifungal medications like Flucan (fluconazole) and Terbicip (terbinafine) did not have an effect, and antiviral medication like Valcivir (valacyclovir) also did not help, it is possible that the current symptoms may not be related to a fungal or viral infection. I recommend trying a mild topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone cream to help reduce inflammation and itching. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas twice a day for about a week. Additionally, keeping the area clean and dry, avoiding irritants like harsh soaps or perfumes, and wearing loose-fitting underwear made of breathable fabric may also help alleviate symptoms. If the symptoms persist or worsen despite these measures, it would be best to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
