I've had an enlarged scrotum since childhood and suspect it might be hydrocele. I'm considering surgery but worried it could affect my chances of joining the navy since that's my career goal. Can you advise if hydrocele surgery would disqualify me or if there are other treatment options that wouldn't impact my navy eligibility?

While surgery (hydrocelectomy) is often the primary treatment for hydrocele, particularly in adults or for persistent hydroceles, it's not always the first step. In some cases, hydroceles may resolve on their own, especially in infants. Non-surgical options like aspiration and sclerotherapy, or simply monitoring the hydrocele, may be considered before surgery.
