I've had really bad nasal congestion worse on the right side for 2 years now and my CT scan showed polypoidal mucosal thickening in all my sinuses plus a mild S shaped nasal deviation. My ENT put me on Montek 10 mg and Flutiflo nasal spray but I'm not getting much relief. Tried Ayurveda too with no luck. I'm diabetic, hypertensive and hypothyroid on meds - really don't want surgery but need something that'll actually work. What's the best medical treatment option for me?

Chronic sinus congestion with polyps and deviation responds to intranasal steroids, antihistamines, balloon sinuplasty, and possible biologic therapy before surgery.

I'm worried about a hole in my eardrum on the left side. There's no pain or irritation, but I'm really hoping to avoid surgery if possible. Can eardrums heal on their own without surgery? Also, how long does it typically take for treatment?

If your ear drum has perforation that needs to be closed no other option,if left untreated that would lead to reinfection or may also cause hearing impairement.

I'm using otomize ear spray for an ear infection, but after a few days, it doesn't seem to be helping. It's still really painful, and now my neck glands under the infected ear are swollen and tender. Plus, I've developed a sore throat. Should I consider making an appointment to see if they could give me a different prescription?

I've had really bad ear pain for the past 3 days and an ENT doctor said there's an infection. I took the medicines and ear drops they prescribed but nothing's helping. They mentioned I might need surgery - is that really necessary or are there other options we could try first? The pain isn't getting better and I'm worried about what to do next.

It's understandable to be concerned about persistent ear pain and the possibility of surgery. While surgery might be an option in some cases, it's not always the first step, and there are other approaches you can explore. If the infection persists despite medication, it's important to discuss your options with your doctor, including potential alternative treatments and the specific reasons why surgery might be considered.
