I've had a swollen uvula for almost a week now, and it's making me cough a lot because it keeps touching my tongue. Drinking hot tea helps a bit, but only for a short time. I'm in 10th standard, and this is making it really hard to read and study. What could be causing this, and what should I do to feel better?

A high lymphocyte count (lymphocytosis) can be a normal response to infection, inflammation, or stress.

Given your:

  • Lymphocytes: 48% (slightly elevated)
  • Absolute Lymphocyte Count (ALC): 3312 (within normal range for many labs)

It's likely not a cause for concern. However, consult your doctor to:

  1. Review your medical history
  2. Discuss potential underlying causes
  3. Determine if further testing is needed

I'm really struggling because I've got a nasal polyp that just won't quit and it's especially bad at night. I usually use Otrivin nasal spray which helps a lot, but I'm out of it right now. The polyp is making it so I cant breathe well and Im having trouble sleeping. What can I do to open up my nasal passage right away?

If drug treatment doesn't shrink or eliminate nasal polyps, you may need endoscopic surgery to remove polyps and to correct problems with your sinuses that make them prone to inflammation and polyp development... Your surgeon may also enlarge the openings leading from your sinuses to your nasal passages. Endoscopic surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure.
