I've noticed my ESR is at 30 and my AEC is 480, and I'm really concerned about the reason behind the increase in my AEC levels. My GP suggested I take diethylcarbamazine and chlorpheniramine, but I'm already on thyroid medication (100 mcg), atorvastatin (10 mg), and fefol. Is it safe for me to add these new medications? What might be causing the high AEC?

  1. Understanding Elevated AEC Levels

    • AEC Explanation: Elevated Absolute Eosinophil Count (AEC) can indicate allergic reactions, parasitic infections, or autoimmune conditions.
  2. Significance of ESR in Your Context

    • ESR Overview: Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) is a marker of inflammation. Together with AEC, it helps assess underlying health issues.
  3. Medication Review and Safety Considerations

    • Current Medications: You are on Thyroxine Sodium, Atorvastatin, and Fefol.
    • Adding New Medications: Diethylcarbamazine and Chlorpheniramine are generally safe but monitor for interactions. Follow your GP’s advice.
  4. Recommendations and Next Steps

    • Consultation: Discuss with your healthcare provider before starting new medications.
    • Further Tests: Consider additional tests to identify the cause of elevated AEC.
    • Monitoring: Report any adverse effects promptly.
  5. Relevant Medical Specialties

    • Specialist Involvement: General Medicine, Endocrinology, and possibly Infectious Disease or Allergy specialists may be involved in your care.

I accidentally took an Ecosprin 75mg pill instead of my Montek LC tablet. Should I be worried about this mix-up? I don't have any health problems otherwise. Could you let me know if I might face any issues?

You have accidentally taken Ecosprin 75mg instead of Montek LC tablet. Ecosprin contains aspirin which is a blood thinner and Montek LC is a combination of Montelukast and Levocetirizine used for asthma and allergy symptoms. Since you do not have any health issues, the accidental intake of Ecosprin should not cause any immediate harm. However, it is important to be cautious with medication mix-ups in the future. For now, you can monitor for any signs of stomach upset, nausea, or bleeding. If you experience any unusual symptoms, it is advisable to seek medical attention.

I'm dealing with a cold, fever, and a throat infection right now. My fever is pretty mild, so I'm wondering if it's alright to take Sinarest along with Paracetamol Dolo. What do you think?
