I've noticed a new white patch on my neck below the chin, and it's quite visible after I shave. I've always had some skin discoloration on my chest and neck since birth, but this patch is new. I saw a doctor who gave me a cleanser and gel to use, and they also prescribed a single dose of Dicaris 150 mg. I'm a bit concerned about what this medication is for and how serious my skin issue might be. Could you help me understand?

Dicaris (Ivermectin) is an antiparasitic medication.
Possible Reasons for Dicaris Prescription
- Scabies or mites: Ivermectin is commonly used to treat scabies, mites, or other parasitic infections that can cause skin discoloration.
- Fungal or bacterial infections: Although less common, ivermectin may be prescribed off-label for certain fungal or bacterial infections.
Possible Causes of Skin Discoloration
- Pityriasis versicolor: A fungal infection that causes skin discoloration.
- Vitiligo: An autoimmune condition that causes white patches on the skin.
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): Skin darkening or discoloration after inflammation or injury.
Seriousness of Skin Discoloration
- Most cases are benign: Skin discoloration is often not a cause for concern.
- Monitor for changes: Keep an eye on the patch for any changes in size, shape, color, or texture.

I've been dealing with post-acne pigmentation on my cheeks, forehead, and chin, and my doctor recommended using Glambak gel. It's been about a month now, and I've noticed some reduction in dark spots and an improvement in my skin tone, which is great. But I'm a bit worried about whether I should keep using the cream long-term to maintain even skin tone. Will my skin tone go darker if I stop using it? I do use sunscreen regularly, but I'm just a bit confused about what the best approach might be. Can you help me figure this out?
