View allI've been dealing with this strange issue where one nostril is always blocked, but it switches sides every now and then. Thing is, I don't have a cold or the flu or anything like that. It's been going on for about six months now. A few doctors have mentioned it could be an allergy, while others think it's sinusitis. I'm just really confused and would like to know what might be really causing this. Any insights?
It sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis. This condition can cause alternating nostril blockage without the presence of a cold or flu. I recommend using a nasal corticosteroid spray like Flonase (fluticasone) to help reduce inflammation and improve airflow. You can use 2 sprays in each nostril once daily. Additionally, using a saline nasal spray like Ocean Spray can help keep your nasal passages moist and clear. Make sure to stay hydrated and consider using a humidifier in your room to help with congestion. If symptoms persist, it's best to follow up with an ENT specialist for further evaluation and management.
